Why embodiment is the most important work of your life

Most people think they are embodied. But most people aren’t. From the time we enter school and for the rest of our lives, we primarily focus on embodying one muscle.

The Brain.

While our brains are absolutely important, most people forget that they have another information center… The whole body.

Our bodies are vastly intelligent and they are communicating with us all the time. But we are taught to relate to it in the most F’d up way and the majority of it is problematic. — How? Glad you asked.

We are taught that our bodies should look a certain way, think a certain way, have sexual appetites and that’s bad (I was taught that it was sinful), our skin tone, aging skin, hair, hip size, breasts, penis size, ears, eyelashes, eye color, etc.

Basically, we are taught to view the body like it is an image and to assess and judge it. It would be like buying a computer and trying to find the best looking one and then picking it apart about what it doesn’t do, while not opening it up to find out all of the information it has inside.

However, the body is vast and miraculous in what it is and does for us. It is communicating feelings that need to be attended to, physical needs it has, and letting us know when we are way out of balance. It births and feeds babies, walks thousands of miles, takes in nutrition, and lets us know when we need certain vitamins. It can bring us to states of pleasure beyond our daily knowing through tasting, seeing, touching, and hearing beautiful sounds of music.

The body is a major communication center. If we only come from our head knowledge we will miss some of the greatest highs we can have and also signals that tell us of danger, warnings, and hurts that need attending to. If ignored it becomes vastly problematic and we blame the body.

Instead, waking up to the body’s communication opens up a whole new world and contributes to a massive quality of life. We can experience happiness, peace, and joy at a much deeper level. The body has senses that can make things more awake and intense.

The primary way of changing your life and stuck patterns is not through just mindset.. but actually through a relationship with your whole entire body that includes the mind. Otherwise, it is why patterns return and repeat over and over and at times get both emotionally and physically ill. The body is giving us constant information about how we are.
